Among the mainly Queensland IGA retail groups was Catherine Hawkins from the Supabarn group in Canberra, Faisal Bajwa from the Khans IGA group in NSW, Jenny Schulz from Allan Burges FoodWorks group, and Michael Hishon from the NightOwl franchise group.
The workshop achieved its goal of clearing the air with regard to UoM implementation and this was greatly facilitated by guest speaker Darren Jerrett of Metcash who spoke at length about the interpretation of the legislative requirements and the impact at store level.
Bas-X presenters on the day were Alex Selles and Simon Marles who were ably assisted by Ben Uhlmann of Hoppers IGA group. Ben had carried out the live “beta” testing of Bas-Xplus UoM application for both warehouse hosted products, and more importantly the features for automated generation and ongoing management of direct supplied lines.
The afternoon session focussed on the new reporting modules (Bas-X Report Builder) which was greeted with much enthusiasm. The groups were particularly excited with the ability to automatically schedule the creation and emailing of reports. Most identified timesavings and a reduction to the reliance on spreadsheets as being significant and with the automated emailed reports business intelligence (BI) could now be rapidly shared with the store managers, staff and business owners via their computer and mobile phones.
The workshop was conducted in the Birdie Room of the Springwood Tower Hotel and started at 9:30am, concluding at 5pm.
