The Bas-XConnect Cloud

Bas-XConnect offers retailers a range of application and network services utilising the latest “Cloud Computing” technologies.  Cloud Computing is internet (cloud) based development and use of computer technology (computing).  The term cloud is used as a metaphor for the Internet, based on how the Internet is depicted in computer network diagrams, and is an abstraction for the complex infrastructure it conceals.

It is a style of computing in which dynamically scalable, often virtualised resources are provided as a service over the Internet.  Users need not have knowledge of, expertise in, or control over the technology infrastructure “in the cloud” that supports them.  Bas-X, in line with a number of other software vendors including Google Apps, provides business applications online while the software and data are stored on computers at our data centre.

In a networking sense, Cloud Computing enables Bas-XConnect users to utilise simple, preconfigured routers at their sites as all of the network configuration and technologies are located within the "Cloud".  This dramatically reduces the cost of network ownership and increases the network and application's reliability for our users.
